Privacy policy

Plainly: we measure which pages help people find a room, and nothing else. There is no advertising, no profiling, and no form quietly storing your details on a server — when you get in touch, WhatsApp carries the message.

What this website collects

There is no database behind this site and no advertising pixel. The enquiry form on the home page does not submit anywhere: it assembles what you typed into a WhatsApp message and opens WhatsApp with it. If you close WhatsApp without sending, we never see it.

The one thing we do measure is site usage, using Google Analytics 4 — and only if you allow it.

Analytics, and your choice

The first time you visit you are asked whether to allow analytics. Until you choose "Allow", no analytics cookie is set and no data is sent — we run Google Consent Mode with analytics, advertising, advertising personalisation and advertising-user-data all denied by default. Advertising signals stay denied even if you allow analytics; we do not run ads and we do not build advertising audiences.

If you allow it, Google Analytics records, in aggregate:

• Pages and sections viewed, and how far down the page people read.
• How you arrived — search, a link, social, or typed directly.
• Rough location (city level) and device type, with your IP address anonymised before storage.
• Which buttons get used — WhatsApp taps, calls, enquiry submissions, which FAQ questions get opened. We record that a button was pressed and where on the page it was, never what you typed.

We use this to work out which parts of the site are useful and which are wasting your time. It is not linked to your name, and we never try to identify an individual visitor from it. Google processes this data as our processor under the Google Business Data Responsibility terms; retention is set to the shortest period Google offers.

Changing your mind: clear this site's data in your browser and you will be asked again on your next visit. You can also block analytics entirely with Google's opt-out add-on or your browser's tracking protection, and the site will work exactly the same.

What we receive when you contact us

• On WhatsApp — your phone number, your WhatsApp profile name, and what you write. Delivery is handled by WhatsApp under their own privacy policy, which we do not control.
• By phone — your number and what you tell us on the call.

We use it to answer your enquiry, arrange a visit, and — if you go on to stay with us — to run the tenancy. We do not sell it, rent it, or pass it to anyone for marketing.

What we keep, and for how long

• Enquiries that go nowhere — they stay in the WhatsApp thread. You can delete the chat at your end whenever you like.
• Residents — the details on your agreement and the identity documents a tenancy requires, kept for as long as the law requires after you leave.

Who else can see it

Only the people who run Urban Nest PG. We share nothing with third parties except where the law requires it — for example a lawful request from the police or a government authority. The site is served as static files by our hosting provider, which processes standard server request logs on our behalf.

Third-party services this page loads

• Google Fonts — the typeface is served by Google, so Google's font service receives the standard request information (including your IP address) that any web request carries. This happens whatever you choose about analytics.
• Google Analytics — only after you tap "Allow" on the notice. See above.
• Google Tag Manager — a container we use to manage the tags on this site. It loads on every visit, but it sets no cookies of its own and collects nothing by itself; it only governs which measurement tags are allowed to run, and those stay subject to your choice above.
• WhatsApp — only when you tap a WhatsApp button, and only then.

Nothing else. No embedded maps, no video players, no social widgets, no chat SDKs, no advertising networks.

Cookies

• Your analytics choice — stored in your browser's local storage, not sent anywhere. Clearing site data removes it.
• Google Analytics cookies (_ga, _ga_*) — set only if you allow analytics, and used to tell a returning visit from a new one.

That is the complete list. No advertising cookies, ever.

Your rights

Under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 you may ask what personal data of yours we hold, ask us to correct it, ask us to erase it where we are not required to keep it, and withdraw consent you have given — including your analytics consent. Ask on WhatsApp or by phone and we will answer; there is no form to fill in.

Children

Our accommodation is let to adults. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 18.

Changes

If this policy changes we will update this page and the date below. There is no mailing list to notify, because we don't run one.
